Danny B Harvey

Playing to virtually no one in Baltimore, Danny B Harvey is the consummate professional - playing great and having fun, crowd or not. Plus, he was a super nice guy to this guitar geek.  And hi James Trussart guitar was a thing of beauty.

Wish list - 1

Three guitars on the wish list here.

Guitar 1 -- a clear Dan Armstrong, shown above with Cyril Jordan of the Flamin' Groovies.  To my knowledge, Cyril has used the same guitar (and Roland Chorus amp) for 40+ years.  His guitar tone in DC last year was exactly as it sounds on "Shake Some Action."  That's pretty damned impressive.

Guitar 2 -- a Harmony Les Paul.  My first and second electric guitars were used Harmony guitars purchased from friends.  (My first acoustic guitar was an old Epiphone that I still miss - my college roommate sat on it, drunkenly one night.)  The first electric one, which was pretty blah, was a hollow Barney Kessel style guitar.  Not very remarkable, and I have no nostalgia for it.  The second Harmony is exactly like the one above.  I saw this one in a shop in Knoxville, TN - in between lackluster gigs.  It was overpriced at $400, more or less, but the nostalgia was strong with this one.  Fortunately, I didn't have the cash for it.  If it had been $200, I would have borrowed money from my bandmates.  It meant a lot to me at age 16.

Guitar 3 -- a Gretsch Nashville, I believe, with custom paint job.  Owned by Paul Overly, a guitar geek friend with impeccable taste.  I've coveted this guitar from the second I laid eyes on it.  (Paint by Curt Wilson -- Palm Beach ivory, platinum gray back and sides.  Fantastic.)
